Former Rotherham United manager Paul Warne was appointed in September and, since then, the Rams have put together a consistent run of results that have propelled them into the League One Play-Off places and saw them push Liverpool to a penalty shootout in the EFL Cup third round. West Ham will need to be on their game to beat a Derby team unbeaten in 19 matches and on a six-game winning run in all competitions, and it is therefore no surprise that the tie has been selected for live coverage by ITV. Monday's meeting will be the first between the clubs since they were both in the EFL Championship in 2011/12, and just the second in the FA Cup's long history, with West Ham defeating Derby 5-2 in a semi-final at Stamford Bridge 100 years ago in March 1923. A century on and Derby are now playing in the third tier, having suffered on and off the pitch in recent seasons, but a summer takeover and the purchase of Pride Park Stadium by local businessman and Derby supporter David Clowes in the summer of 2022 put the club back on a firm footing.

Derby County v West Ham United - All You Need To Know | West Ham United F. C. Derby County v West Ham United Emirates FA Cup fourth round, Pride Park Stadium, Monday 30 January 2023, 7. 45pm West Ham United's quest to lift the FA Cup for the fourth time in the Club's history continues in the East Midlands on Monday evening. Then, David Moyes' side will take on EFL League One opponents Derby County in a fourth-round tie at Pride Park Stadium. The Hammers reached this stage with a 1-0 victory at Premier League rivals Brentford, while Derby have defeated Torquay United, Newport County and Barnsley.
The club's golden era was under the managerial duo of Brian Clough and Peter Taylor between 1967-73, when Derby won the Second Division title in 1969, then the First Division title in 1972 and reached the European Cup semi-finals in 1973. After winning the First Division for a second time and defeating West Ham United to lift the FA Charity Shield under the management of Dave Mackay in 1975, a period of decline followed as Derby were relegated to the third tier in 1984. Successive promotions got Derby back to the big time and, after two more relegations, they went up to the Premier League in 1992, and remained in the top-flight for six seasons. Another ill-fated Premier League campaign in 2007/08 saw the Rams win just one game and collect just eleven points.
